Friends of the Savannah Coastal Wildlife Refuges Announces:
A Call for Volunteers
The long-anticipated Savannah National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center is scheduled to open to the public in October, 2009. Your Friends group has committed to providing the volunteer staff for the Information Desk and for the "The Gator Hole", our book and nature store.
The Visitor Center will be open from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM Monday through Saturday, closed on federal holidays.
We are currently recruiting volunteers for two levels of involvement:
1. Information Desk - this involves staffing the front desk and taking questions from the public, giving directions, passing out brochures, etc.
2. "The Gator Hole" - this involves staffing the cash register and other duties typical of a retail sales outlet. We also are seeking volunteers with retail experience to help with ordering, inventory, record keeping, etc.
Your Friends group will work with the Fish & Wildlife Service staff to provide vetting and training for potential volunteers. A more involved screening process is being developed for "The Gator Hole" volunteers.
