Greetings!
Spring is here, and with it new work from Mitchell Goldberg and Cecily Spitzer. Goldberg will be showing the unusually broad range of his vocabulary, with thematically connected etchings, paintings and glass work. Spitzer's evocative palette and thoughtfulness inform her recent work in both oil and watercolor. Please join us this Sunday April 1st from 2-5pm to celebrate Spring and two thought provoking, distinctive solo shows! |

Mitchell Goldberg: Connections, Etchings, Glass and PaintingsMarch 29th through April 22nd, 2012
"The central concept for "Connections" is the repetition of a few core motifs interpreted in different media. Some of the designs are abstract; some are representational and many combine the two. The media include fused glass, etching, painting and collage. Brightly colored glass panels are contrasted with similar designs reinterpreted as etchings printed in blacks and grays. Paintings are inspired by collages, and older collages are renewed by being "re-collaged" and paired with images of etchings, forming new collage pieces. Each concept when reinterpreted in
a different medium takes on new qualities."---Mitchell Goldberg

Upstream Gallery was started in 1991 by a group of Westchester artists who were looking for a venue to show their work outside of traditional commercial galleries.
The gallery has two street level exhibition spaces. The current artist members work in a variety of media including painting, sculpture, collage / assemblage, print-making and photography. Styles range from the representational to the abstract. Members have shown in a wide variety of exhibitions throughout the United States and Europe. Upstream encourages artists to submit their work for review. Submissions are reviewed on a monthly basis.
