New Upstream Header

March 2012

Greetings!

This month offers new work from both Eleanor Goldstein and Jerry Vis.  Goldstein's evocative urban landscapes create an intensely personal vision of fragmented cities.  Vis' tough minded wit and dense, saturated color underline his compassionate vision of the world around him.

Please join us for the opening reception of what promise to be two remarkable shows on Sunday, March 4th from 2-5 pm.

Eleanor Goldstein: Paintings and Prints
March 1st through March 25th 2012

Ms. Goldstein believes that objects have a spiritual dignity beyond their everyday uses.  Her images of bridges, highways and factories---urban remnants--- are densely living marks bearing witness to past human traces.

Upstream Gallery was started in 1991 by a group of Westchester artists who were looking for a venue to show their work outside of traditional commercial galleries.

The gallery has two street level exhibition spaces.  The current artist members work in a variety of media including painting, sculpture, collage / assemblage, print-making and photography.  Styles range from the representational to the abstract.  Members have shown in a wide variety of exhibitions throughout the United States and Europe. Upstream encourages artists to submit their work for review.  Submissions are reviewed on a monthly basis.
