Music Lessons
Shane Kelley is now offering guitar, bass, drums and piano lessons from his downtown studio at 531 Central Avenue, Suite C, located inside the corridor next to Blossman Gas and across from City Centre Crepes and Coffeehouse (C4). German Music and Ballroom Dancing Please join the Pinebelt Ballroom Dance Association's German ballroom dancing evening at the YWCO in Laurel on Friday February 18th. Richard Anderson of Laurel will perform live, traditional German music starting at 8PM. For those wishing to learn the basics of the polka please join us at 7PM. The cost is $5/adult, $2/student. The Loft will be open on Feb. 14th for Valentine's Day with live music and a special menu. Reservations recommended. Check out The Loft at its new location: 535 Central Ave., The Courtyards. The new space has more seating, street level access and a beautiful outdoor space. The bar will be open Tuesday-Saturday from 3 p.m. until beginning Feb. 1.

Lauren Rogers Museum of Art Events

Garden Lecture
Feb. 4
The Lauren Rogers Museum of Art, along with the Laurel Garden Club. will present its 9th Annual Garden Lecture on Friday, Feb. 4 at 10:30 a.m. in the LRMA American Gallery.
Dr. Jeff Kuehny, Professor of Horticulture at Louisiana State University, will present "My Favorite Flora for the Southern Garden, Patio and Home" which will focus on plants that can provide year-round enjoyment for any space - large or small.
Following the lecture and a brief Q&A session, lunch will be served at the historic Rogers-Green House which is located across the street from the Museum. Tickets are $35 per person and include lunch. Seating is limited. For reservations contact LRMA at 601.649.6374 or info@LRMA.org.

MS Blues Trail Marker coming to Downtown Laurel

Team Music Makers is part of the Leadership Jones County Class of 2010-2011, and they will be to bringing the Mississippi Blues Trail to Downtown Laurel as their community project. The team is currently raising funds for the blues marker that will be located at the Train Depot, as well as the beginning phase of a Blues Park at this location. Please support this wonderful project that will not only recognize Laurel natives who contributed to the blues, but will also provide another great asset to Historic Downtown Laurel! Team Music Makers is currently selling bricks and 12x12 stones with personalized engravings to fund the project.
