Greetings Open Door Art Studio Fans!
June was a fantastic whirlwind that just flew right on by! It started off on the right foot with a hugely successful Columbus Arts Festival experience for Open Door artist Wallace Peck. The next weekend Open Door's gallery was filled with admirers for the opening of the exhibition Figurative Language. Since then our studio artists have been busy creating amazing new work!
If you haven't stopped into Open Door in awhile, now is the time! July marks our one year anniversary at our location at 1050 Goodale Boulevard. Our walls are adorned with amazing art, our gallery showcases an exceptional exhibit, and we have lots of fun new open door products like stylish t-shirts and limited edition prints! Elaine Gaines
Slow and steady does indeed win the race, if you are talking about Elaine Gaines and her small-scale masterpieces. Elaine works diligently on each painting, taking her time, applying paint brushstroke by brushstroke, and layer upon layer. The end results are breathtaking color fields that each viewer brings a unique interpretation to. For some they may represent emotions, for others they are vivid sunsets. Every viewer sees different images and

shapes within the swirls of lively colors. Elaine has sold numerous paintings and is now part of the collections of numerous folk art enthusiasts. Additionally, she has been juried into many art exhibitions. From her years of hard work and her sweet disposition at the studio, Elaine is an inspiration to her fellow artists and collectors alike. She has been creating art at Open Door since its inception and even longer at the UCP Art Bridge program.

| Outside/In Opens August 11th
Mark your calendars for Open Door's next gallery show opening. Outside/In will feature work from several progressive art studios throughout Ohio. With this exhibit we hope to build partnerships, explore art as a tool for advocacy, and celebrate all the amazing things happening in the world of Outsider Art in Ohio. Ohio is paving the way for creating an arts landscape that does not relegate Outsider Art to the periphery, but instead lets it come right on IN!
