Larry Ross has long been passionate about drawing circles and lines. These seemingly simple doodles, long overlooked, continue to be the foundation for a very successful career as a painter later in his life. Larry uses these simple shapes to create bold, non-objective works on canvas. With much color and size variation, these two paint strokes have the potential for countless combinations. Larry's confident marks attract many collectors and as a sought after artist, Larry has benefited immensely from his art. Prior to Open Door Art Studio, life had not afforded Larry any lucrative job opportunities. With the profits of his initial art sales from Open Door, Larry was able to go on his first real vacation to Nashville, Tennessee. Larry loves people and his enthusiasm for life is inspirational to anyone who meets him and gets one of his signature winks or smiles.

Open Door is beginning a series of curated exhibits in the Open Door Gallery beginning in April. Mark your calendars for the first Opening Reception. This first exhibit is a wonderful partnership between a local artist collective and Open Door Artists.

Why:

As artists, we're always looking for new inspirations, something that moves us, our muse. For this exhibit MAW artists have selected work made by artists from Open Door Art Studio that inspired them, then used that spark to create a companion piece. Both works are displayed side-by-side in this unique exhibition.

Wallace Peck, one of Open Door's studio artists, was selected by a blind Jury process as an emerging artist for the 2012 Columbus Arts Festival. He will have his very own tent at the festival and a wide audience will get to experience his fantastic artwork. We could not be more proud of him and this impressive accomplishment! Mark your calendars so you can come out to support Wallace and the other amazing artists at the festival!
