Barb Neibarger
Having been raised on a farm, Barbara Neibarger has a special affinity for farm animals and rural life. Not surprisingly, she loves to create tiny "homes" for farm animals out of clay. At any one time Barb has half a dozen or so of these little houses in process. She is a joy to watch as she meticulously sets up her work space each session before she goes into "build mode". She prefers to come up with her own methods for building her sculptures, but you can often see her studying other ceramic pieces to gather new ideas that she may incorporate into her own artwork. Barb's main artistic focus is ceramics, but she occasionally dabbles in drawing, painting and fiber arts. Her passion for creating is evident to any onlooker and she is very diligent in her pursuits. At random moments during a studio session one might hear Barb laughing because she has discovered a new idea or finished her latest piece. It is then that she will share what she is working on with those around her. Her laughter and humor always bring joy to the studio.
Recently Barb took part in the Open Door exhibit at the Carnegie Gallery in the Columbus Main Library. The photo below captured that moment that Barb first saw a piece of her work on a gallery wall. It was a truly great moment!

Wallace Peck Showcased in Collection on Columbus Underground!
Recently Columbus Underground did a feature on Andrew Miller, a young art collector with a passion for local art. Among Andrew's collection is a great piece by our very own Wallace Peck. Read the full article here!
According to Andrew Miller:
"'People should really buy art from local artists and galleries,' he said. 'There is no reason to buy commercial art when you can just as easily go to events or galleries.'
Supporting the people in our own community doing the creative things that makes the community where we want to live is important to him. 'We're all trying to do what we can to make the community what we want,' he said."
All the artists at Open Door completely agree! Thanks Andrew for collecting and advocating for the arts!
