Charles Poe

Charles Poe's first day at Open Door was also the first day Open Door opened at the new, bigger space on Goodale Boulevard. From day one, Charles has utilized his studio time to the fullest. If he is not behind the sewing machine crafting a new Luchador mask (Mexican wrestling mask), he is experimenting in a number of other mediums. Charles loves learning and experimenting and has been known to work in such materials as charcoal, acrylic, clay, and plaster cast. His illustration style is more realistic and he loves creating images of his favorite wrestling stars or super heroes. Red seems to play heavily in a lot of his work and stands out nicely against his favorite color, black. In addition to sewing masks, he has also made a number of amazing puppets and costumes. When wearing one of his masks, costumes, or puppets, Charles' personality really comes to life and he has been known to do a number of impressive voices and impersonations.

Charles has lived in central Ohio his whole life and fondly remembers several art teachers who inspired him to create art during his formative years. It is no doubt that these educators were thrilled with Charles' obvious natural talent, as well as his admirable work ethic. Even when not at the studio, Charles enjoys art-making. He does reserve Monday and Friday evenings for his favorite wrestling programs, however. Charles just loves the arts and he looks forward to selling his work. One day he hopes to create his own comic books.

Come into the studio to check out what Charles has made, and if you are still in need of a Halloween costume, look no further! We've got some knockout masks for sale!

MEET THE NEW OPEN DOOR TEAM MEMBERS!
Cody Heichel

Cody Heichel was born in the small town of Wooster, Ohio.  After taking interest in the arts as a child, he pursued art education throughout high school and into college at Kent State University. He furthered his training by enrolling in community classes at The Wayne Center for the Arts and attending workshops hosted by key members of the Transparent Watercolor Society of America.  He recently moved to Columbus in search of an exciting and fulfilling career in the arts, and found the path he had hoped for at Open Door Art Studio. In his personal artwork, he primarily creates expressionistic-style watercolor paintings, and he has completed numerous commissioned pieces throughout his hometown and surrounding areas. In addition to his interest in visual arts, he has played guitar since middle school and enjoys writing, recording, and performing music locally.

Caitlin Lynch

Cat Lynch attended Ball State University, where she graduated with honors with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. Growing up in small towns in Illinois and Indiana, she has been interested in art since early childhood. She has shown in exhibitions throughout the Midwest and around the country, both in galleries and in non-traditional spaces. A multidisciplinary artist, she uses a wide range of materials ranging from drawing and painting to performance and installation. Her work often utilizes invented narratives and simple symbols to tell autobiographical, highly personal stories.
