Greetings Open Door Art Studio Fans!
We have been in the midst of a major move to a new Open Door location! This process has been in the works for the better part of a year and much thought, time, effort, and good old-fashioned elbow grease has gone into converting the warehouse space at 1050 Goodale Boulevard. It is now a spacious studio for our artists and a beautiful gallery for our guests. We officially open for art-making and to visitors on Tuesday, July 5th. Our artists will now be working in the afternoon hours on Tuesday through Friday. If you want to see art-making in action plan your visits for those times. We cannot wait to share our excitement for this fantastic expansion with the world. So come in and check it out!
We would be remiss not to kindly thank the support provided to us by Columbus Center for Human Services, Inc., especially Dona England-Afek and Barbara Heretta. Thanks so much for helping us to realize this dream!

Charles Porter
Charles Porter's drawing and painting style is very distinctive. He layers one color after another to create an image that resembles geological strata, only in Technicolor. Occasionally, Charles incorporates more representational imagery of animals. Charles has worked in many mediums including: painting, ceramics, illustration and textiles. He loves working hard and is very proficient at sewing. With this amazing skill set he creates many of the signature Open Door watercolor cards. He has parlayed this ability into the creation of small art quilts.
Charles is generally a very quiet man. He observes all and when he does pipe in it is with a true zinger.

His quiet humor adds much to the dynamic of the art studio. A practical man, Charles loves the financial gains of creating and selling artwork.
He uses some of his funds to go on vacations. Charles gets excited about the trip, but loves the airplane rides most of all. He is in awe of the ability to fly. A native Ohioan who has lived here his whole life, he makes the most of these exciting adventures.
