Also available on the DEC website is the online Prayer Vigil which supplements (but does not replace) the paper Prayer Vigil passed around at Candlelights and other DEC events for signature. Both Prayer Vigils are posted during Walks for Pilgrims to see who has been praying for them.

End of the Year Excitement

It is an exciting time in the Dallas Emmaus Community. The Chrysalis Restart date has been set for August 20th, but the location has not been set yet.We will let you know soon where it will be held and the expected schedule for the Restart. We are excited to be able to move forward and re-establish a good strong Chrysalis program.

Welcome

We are very excited to welcome Anna Clemons, who will be stepping up and leading us for the coming year, as our new Community Lay Director.  Anna is very committed to the Dallas Emmaus Community and a wonderful person.  We will all benefit from her leadership.  CLD is a one year position and I have been very fortunate to serve you in that capacity for the last year.  It has been fun and fulfilling.  I look forward to my final year on the Board and serving as Secretary for the Community.    Also, new DEC Board members are coming aboard - Janis Browning, Kathie Johnson, Chuck Rohre and Jimmy Weaver.  These are highly qualified people who love the Lord and love Emmaus.  With the "newbies" coming onto the Board, there are those who have committed, led, and served their 3 year term while making the Dallas Emmaus Community a great place to serve the Lord and to help others take a step further down the road in their faith journey.

Nancy Summers, Karole Horch, Kirk Ragsdale, and Scott Andrews have all set a great path, like those before them, for us to follow.  If you have worked with any the 4 of them over the last 3 years, you know that they are the highest caliber of people and you know what a wonderful job that each of them has done.  Take a moment when you next see them and say Thank You. As it says in Mathew  25:21,  "Well done my good and faithful servant."

Love One Another

 love one another
Jesus said in John 13:34-35, "A new command I give you; Love one another. As I have loved you so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another" Christ also said in John 14:15, "If you love me, you will obey what I command"

Through experience, I have discovered that it is impossible for us to be close to God without being affected by His Love. We have just celebrated and experienced the Love of God through the death and resurrection of His Son Jesus Christ. This Love of God that filled Jesus and motivate Him to go to the cross was no ordinary love.  No, the Love demonstrated to us on Resurrection Sunday, was the Love of one who was compel to commit His life to the saving purpose of His Father.

Because we too have an assignment from God, Jesus prayed that God would place this same Love in each of us who are believers.  So, God responded by placing His Son within us. And I must inform you of the fact that it is impossible for a believer to be filled with the measure of Love demonstrated to us by the resurrection of Christ and not be on mission with God. Our mission is to spread the good news of the cross with love and mercy.

Those of us who have experienced this Love through the Emmaus Experience, can testify to the fact that one cannot forgive others, go the extra mile, turn the other cheek, or sacrifice for others, unless you have first been filled with the boundless Love of God. This Love of God, however, can give us the power we need to not only love one another, but to sacrifice for one another as well.

heart pinkIt is my prayer that we, the Community of Believers in the Emmaus Experience will begin to seek to know the immeasurable love of God, and then allow His Son to love others through us.
