DEC

Greetings!

First Walk of 2009 is finally here!

Men's Walk 216
The first Walk of 2009 kicks off tonight, February 19, at Mount Lebanon.  Send-off starts at 6:30 p.m. with a potluck dinner.  Candlelight will be at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday night, February 21  Closing will begin at approximately 4:45 p.m. on Sunday, February 22.

If you haven't had a chance to sign the Prayer Vigil, visit the Dallas Emmaus Community website now and sign the online Prayer Vigil.  The online Prayer Vigil supplements (but does not replace) the paper Prayer Vigil that is passed around at Candlelights and other DEC events for signature.  Both the hand-signed and the printed online Prayer Vigils are posted during Walks for Pilgrims to see who has signed.
New Emmaus "Purple Worship Book"
The Upper Room has released new Emmaus purple worship books (officially titled, "Worship Booklet for Pilgrims").  The new Emmaus purple worship books are significantly different from the old books.  Beginning with Walk 216 (February 19-22, 2009 at Mount Lebanon), the new worship books will be given to Pilgrims and used throughout the Walk.

This means that the new Purple Worship Books will be used at Candlelight and Closing for Walk 216 and for all subsequent Dallas Emmaus events.

The new Emmaus purple worship books will be available for sale to the Community at all Candlelights and Gatherings for $3 each.  A brief orientation to the new Emmaus purple worship books will be conducted at Candlelilght for Walk 216 and for the other 2008 Walks as needed.

For more details, visit the News page on the DEC website and read the Upper Room announcement.
DEC Board Elections
Don't forget to cast your vote for the 2009-2010 DEC Board.  Two men and two women will be elected.  Candidates for the men's slots are (in alphabetical order):  Tim Bubel, Mike Donohoe, Will Dunn and Chuck Rohre.  Candidates for the women's slots are (again in alphabetical order):  Nancy Boyette, Anna Clemons, Letitia Nachtrieb and Kathie Seeley.

Voting has never been easier. Download the ballot (see below), click your selections, and type in your name and email address. Then simply press the 'Submit by Email' button, and your ballot will be on its way via email. Quick and easy! You can even print a copy of your completed ballot if you wish.  Of course, you can still print the ballot, make your handwritten selections and sign the ballot, then mail it to the DEC.  All ballots must be received via email or postmarked by March 31, 2009.

Ballots will also be available at Candlelights for Walks #216 and #217 for in-person balloting.
