Dear Book Lover:
We are but days now from coming together in the name of books and fellowship, and I am grateful you are coming in that spirit. The responses to e-newsletter of Friday were plentiful -- in the hundreds -- and I was glad for that. That means you care.
No one cares more than me about this event, and rest assured much more than my time and effort went into making this another special NBCC weekend. My heart and soul went into it as well.
So here we are, ready to embark on another occasion of literary bliss with this caveat: All readers in attendance of the '09 NBCC will receive a $50 credit toward the 2010 NBCC, Aug. 5-7 in Atlanta. It is a genuine gesture from the heart, one I hope holds significant value to you.
I'm excited, anxious . . . ready. We will start with a tribute to the late great E. Lynn Harris at 9 a.m. and then proceed to the Bebe Moore Campbell (above) Memorial Award acknowledgment, honoring the fantastic Dr. Bertice Berry. It will be a beautiful hour that will set the tone for a remarkable weekend.
Thank you for you support. CURTIS BUNN

Red Carpet Magic

This image from the 2008 NBCC shows the power of beautiful black dressed up in the name of books and fellowship.
The book lovers served their role as paparazzi admirably, and the authors basked in the glow of the flashing lights.
This year's NBCC promises to be another grand event!!!
