Hello, friends and colleagues,
I want to thank all of you for another great semester. Our numbers continue to look good for the
fall: 120 paid deposits above last year!
In addition, we will have a budget surplus that will fund our strategic
initiative of academic equipment purchases ($150K) and increased faculty
development funds ($50K).
We are, of course, at the mercy of the political theater in
Albany. The lateness of the NYS budget
may have a negative impact on our construction projects for the summer. I relentlessly lobby our elected officials
and will never give up that fight, no matter how discouraged I feel-we simply
have too much at stake!
However, we are in the season to celebrate, and there is a
great deal to celebrate, as we look back on our student successes over the
semester. That is the fuel that drives
me and I know many of you as well.
We have a few new people in key positions that are
transitioning this summer; Dr. Steve Havlovic, vice president for academic
affairs, and Dr. Terry Tucker, dean of arts and sciences. Please join
me in welcoming them to the ASC family.
This summer the President's Cabinet will be busy assessing
progress on our strategic plan and preparing for the fall semester...just think,
before you know it, we will be welcoming a new freshmen class in addition to an
increasing number of returning students.
Please take time to enjoy the summer months wherever they may lead you.
