Professor Jonchhe Named Fulbright Grantee
Alfred State College Professor Yogendra (Yogi) Jonchhe, Mechanical Engineering Technology Department, has been selected as a Fulbright scholar grantee to Nepal. The Office of Communications was named a recipient of three awards in the 24th Annual Admissions Advertising Awards Competition, sponsored by the Admissions Marketing Report publication. Winning entries were the Alfred State College total recruitment package (gold); Alfred State College direct mail advertising visit post card (merit); and Alfred State College Web site (merit). Construction Begun on 50th House Built by Students
The Applied Technology Campus of Alfred State College has begun
construction on the 50th house built by students in various
construction-related programs on campus and underwritten by the
Educational Foundation of Alfred, Inc., a private foundation
representing faculty, staff, and friends of Alfred State College
dedicated to improving the ASC community through support of its

Williams Awarded Freshman Advocate of the Year

ASC Helps US National Arboretum "Go Green"
Alfred State College is making the US National Arboretum greener! Five students enrolled in Alfred State College's electrical construction and maintenance electrician program, accompanied by Assistant Professor Jeffrey Stevens, spent their recent spring break in Washington, DC, conducting a four-day workshop that resulted in the installation of a 1 kW solar (electric) array that will power an irrigation system at the United States National Arboretum. This is the first solar-powered system at the Arboretum.Read more. |
ASC Host of Track National Championships
Athletes representing 25 NJCAA institutions traveled to Alfred State College to participate in the 2009 Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The event featured nearly 350 participants vying for both individual and team honors. Read more. |
Robotics Competition
Alfred State College conducted its first Robotics
Competition on campus in April.
Organized by faculty members Matthew Lawrence, assistant professor,
Mechanical Engineering Technology Department; Bradley Thompson, assistant
professor, Electrician, Computer and Robotics Technician Department; and Thomas
Murphy, instructor, Building Trades Department, the event drew 35 students
representing eight regional high schools as participants.

Animal Welfare Approved and Alfred State College brought New York City chefs and food purveyors together with local farmers and agricultural experts at an April 23 summit to plan a supply chain from western New York State farms to the New York City market. Read more. |
