Listening to Steve Jobs, Poetry Semi-Finals & More...

Greetings!

As you undoubtedly know, Steve Jobs died on October 5, 2011. Like so many worldwide, I'm thankful for the innovations he left behind, many of which allow us to be connected in new and exciting ways. For instance, my fiancé travels often, but we can still have face-to-face conversations every day. Steve Jobs' path, which led him to unparalleled creativity and accomplishment, has been one of deep, inner listening. The latest Listeners Unite blog pays tribute by sharing some of his most inspiring insights about that journey.

In poetry news, I have the special honor to announce that I've entered the semi-finals of a competition. More about the Mary Ballard Chapbook Prize below...

Jobs
Steve Jobs leaves us with a legacy of inspiration and a model of inner listening that is at the heart of his vision, innovation, perseverance and personal philosophy. I found his 2005 Stanford Commencement Address so inspiring that I posted the video at the Listeners Unite Website (which, by the way, is designed on a Mac using Apple's iWeb software).

On October 1, my name was announced as one of the semi-finalists for the "Mary Ballard Poetry Chapbook Prize."  The winning collection will be published by Casey Shay Press. The next judging round will take place by November 1, and then the final collection will be chosen by January. If you enjoy my poetry and can keep your fingers crossed that long (without dropping or spilling anything), I would really appreciate it (and would also be extremely impressed)!  :)
