Greetings
It's hard to believe that the end-of-year holidays are nearly upon us...Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa, New Years.
As you are continuing to plan and prepare, both personally and professionally, here a few Chamber-related questions to consider:
- Would you like to be part of a Clinton Holiday Festival on Sat, Dec. 5th? Several shop owners in downtown Clinton are gearing up and the Progressive Association is willing to do their tree lighting that evening. Should we do something at the Community Hall for businesses that don't have downtown storefronts? This is wide open at this point so, if you are interested, let us know and we'll help make it happen.
- We list member events and/or specials in this newsletter and on the website, please let us know if you have something coming up! We are also going to start including weekly member profiles on the website. Contact us if you would like your business/organization to be featured.
- The long-awaited Web workshops are being scheduled for next week (we hope). We're waiting for a confirmation to be able to use the high school computer lab. We are requesting an evening timeframe (Wed or Thurs, 11/18 or 19 from 6-9) and a Sat morning (11/20 from 9 to noon). You don't need to go to both, just pick one, and we'll help you construct your own web page on the Chamber website. It's easy, all you need is web access and content! More info to follow.
Thank you, one and all--let's continue to work together for a thriving community!

| Clinton Progressive Association - Tuesday, November 10th
A Call to The Hall
We're holding the Annual Meeting,
it won't be a formal affair,
but more of a social occasion.
We hope we'll be seeing you there.
Oh sure there'll be business discussion,
our goal is to keep that quite brief.
We don't want to bore you with numbers and facts.
(did I hear a sigh of relief?)
Creating a festive impression,
a fire in the hearth will add cheer,
to make you feel cozy and welcome,
this wintery time of the year.
We'll make it a fun ice cream social.
Hot cider with spices we'll spike.
A chance to meet old and new members,
while playing a game if you like.
So please make a note to remember,
try pinning this verse on your wall.
The date is the 10th of November
Where?....Clinton, the C.P.A Hall.

ˇ Small businesses employ just over 50% of the country's private sector workforce.
ˇ 52% of small businesses in the United States are home-based businesses, and 2% are franchises.

ˇ Small businesses hire 40% of high tech workers, such as scientists, engineers and computer workers.
ˇ Small businesses represent 97.3% of all the exporters of goods.

A Whidbey Island holiday tradition returns to South Whidbey for the fifth year, as Big Brothers Big Sisters of Island County presents its annual Festival of Trees Gala and Auction. This year's festival will be held Dec. 5, starting at 5:30 p.m. at the Useless Bay Golf & Country Club in Freeland. Tickets are $85 per person. This entertaining formal event, featuring uniquely decorated trees and wreaths for auction, benefits children in the community allowing them to be matched in one-to-one relationships with positive role-models through the nonprofit organization.
Nationally, Big Brothers Big Sisters has been the leader in one-to-one mentoring for more than 100 years. On Whidbey Island, the organization has more than 11 years with proven success in creating positive friendships that benefit children, volunteers, families, schools and our entire community. For years, dedicated tree decorators have created unique styles, which have continued to bring joy to the buyers for years to come. The Festivals of Trees is a community celebration designed to brighten the holiday season while brightening the futures of children, organizers said. All funds go directly to children's services.
