Gulf of Mexico Recovery Slings in Action
Bishop Lifting Products is supplying wire rope, slings and rigging materials on
the Gulf of Mexico Recovery Project. Slings
recently supplied include 6 pieces of a SPXC 40,000 x 20' Single Path Extra
Covermax® Slings.These high performance
fiber Slingmax® slings have a rated capacity of 400,000 lbs. at a 5 to 1 design
factor. They were used in pairs attached
to elevators to raise and lower subsea equipment from one of the semi submersible
rigs at the site. Rigging hardware
supplied were Crosby G-2160 wide body shackles, Crosby G-2130 & G-2140 bolt
type anchor shackles, Crosby HR-1000 heavy duty swivel hoist rings, and Crosby
S-249 machinery eye bolts. More images...

CICB Training in July
Crane
Inspection & Certification Bureau has 7 training classes
going on in the month of July at their Houston Campus located at BLP's
Headquarters at 125 McCarty. If you have concerns
about certification of equipment, operators, riggers, or mechanics, CICB's
training can show you how to create a safer environment while saving in
maintenance costs and improving equipment life. Classes
include API Rigger Certification Program, Basic Rigging Training, Mobile

Service Spotlight
Things are heating up at Bishop Lifting this
summer with the addition of our new 3.3 million pound proof tester. With an
overall length of 323 feet, and inside pulling length of around 275 feet, it's
the most technically advanced proof tester ever built. With a 3-in-1 design, we
can proof test inside the bed using the main cylinders, pull from the
mechanically propelled trolley end cylinders to take up slack, and test from
the main cylinders in reverse while connected to a foundation anchor for

Bishop LIfting Products, Inc. is hosting the inaugural meeting of the NCCCO Crane Inspector Task Force, to be held July 19-21, 2010 in Houston, TX. The task force is made up of Lifting Subject Matter Experts from around the United States. The goal of the meeting is to develop the criteria for the certification of crane inspectors. |
