Farmers Ending Hunger

As part of our Earth Day Celebration on Facebook, our Color Community (you!) helped us Adopt-an-Acre through Farmers Ending Hunger. By adopting acres donated by Northwest farmers and ranchers, we are helping to provide high-quality, healthy food to local communities and reduce hunger in Oregon. Our acre will feed two families of four the recommended daily allowance of vegetables for 250 days.

MPI Certification

YOLO Colorhouse interior paint and primer are now listed on the MPI Approved Products List!

Master Painters Institute (MPI) is committed to high standards in paints and coatings. For architects and design professionals, these standards are important when specifying paint products for commercial and residential projects.

YOLO Colorhouse products meet MPI's Green Performance Standard (GPS-1-08 and GPS-2-08), which simplifies the process of specifying environmentally- safe interior architectural coatings.
A Painter's Palette:
Frida Kahlo

Frida Kahlo is one of Mexico's most beloved painters. Best known for her self portraits, this still life of watermelons was one of the last paintings done by the prolific and passionate artist before her death in 1954.

Happy Summer fellow Color Nerd!

There has been a lot happening here at YOLO Colorhouse since our last Colorlab -- we released our 100% organic cotton Sprout Fabric line, received MPI Certification, and have created our Summer 2012 palette full of fresh citrus hues.

But we are not stopping there! We are back in the Color Shed working on a new color palette!   Thank you to all the Color Collaborators that let us know which colors you would like to see in this new collection. If you have ideas but missed out giving us feedback, follow this link and let us know.

A huge Thank You! to our Color Community for helping us make the world more colorful and less volatile by adopting an acre through Farmers Ending Hunger during our Earth Day celebration.

Wishing you a bright and bountiful summer season!

The Sprout Fabric Collection

Designing a "green" nursery just got easier - and more colorful - with the new YOLO Colorhouse Sprout Fabric Collection!

The Sprout Fabric Collection is gentle on people big and small.  Designed to coordinate with the YOLO Colorhouse zero VOC Sprout paint palette, the Sprout 100% organic cotton fabric collection does not fall far from the tree. Inspired by new growth and the first buds of spring, the YOLO Colorhouse Sprout Collection creates dreamy sleepscapes for life's newcomers.

We partnered with Sewing in a Straight Line author, Brett Bara, to create simple and sweet DIY patterns just for the new Sprout Fabric Collection. The easy-to-use sewing patterns can be downloaded from the YOLO Colorhouse website.

The USA-made, 230-thread count certified organic fabric is available in a sateen finish and a soft knit. The fabric is made using non-toxic water-based inks and is perfect for easy curtains, sweet baby blankets, bunting flags, as well as pillow designs.  The Sprout Fabric Collection is available exclusively in the YOLO Colorhouse web store.

Summer Palette 2012

As refreshing as sipping a summer cocktail on a screen porch: Summer 2012.  Light and clear, AIR .04 and ASPIRE .04 are the sunny warmth in this palette, while PETAL .01 and THRIVE .02 punch it up with the bright hues summer is known for. This color grouping is perfect for kitchens and open dining areas that want to celebrate summer all year long.

Thailand

In March, we went on a sensory extravaganza called Thailand!   We started our journey in Bangkok, which is everything we thought it would be -- and more.  Lots of people, lots of motorbikes and tuk tuks, lots of markets and food carts, lots of color, pattern, textures - a bit of a sensory overload, but we were up for that!  Travel is one of the things that inspires us and informs the work we do at YOLO Colorhouse.  It didn't take long for us to notice there were 3 themes that dominated our trip - Food, Culture, and of course, Color. We have documented our journey and this beautiful culture on the YOLO Colorhouse blog -- it is packed with pictures, recipes...and COLOR!
