Pantone's Tangerine Tango

Every year, Pantone announces a "Color of the Year". This is a special hue that Pantone projects will influence development of fashion, industrial design, packaging, graphic design and home décor throughout the year.  This year, the color is "Tangerine Tango"- a spicy and vibrant, red-hot orange! Tangerine Tango is a fantastic color -- it comes forward and demands your attention.  That said, when using it in architecture, one may want to tread lightly. The intensity level of a room will rise if painted from floor to ceiling with Tangerine Tango.  Studies have shown that blood pressure actually rises when surrounded by saturated reds and oranges. When used sparingly as accents or as color pops in accessories, a red-hot orange can be smashing. This energetic, firey color works well paired with its complimentary family of colors, blues to greens.  The balance offered by these cooler colors brings relief from the red-hotness of Tangerine Tango and gives your eyes a place to rest. For more on how to use color in architecture read YOLO Colorhouse co-founder Janie Lowe's recent blog post.

YOLO Colorhouse and Rejuvenation Celebrate Spring!

Spring is the unofficial season of home projects. In anticipation of this special time of year, Rejuvenation and YOLO Colorhouse are holding an event February 16 to unveil new spring palettes and products at Rejuvenation at 100 SE Grand Ave. in Portland, OR at 6:00 p.m.

Rejuvenation, known for reproducing period-authentic lighting and hardware, will share a behind-the-scenes look at the creation of its latest collection. Rejuvenation Merchandising Manager, Wendy Neely, will lead a discussion about the detailed process of lighting reproduction, including visuals of prototypes and catalogue images of the original light created over a hundred years ago.

YOLO Colorhouse founders Janie Lowe and Virginia Young will follow with a presentation about YOLO Colorhouse's 2012 color trends. Janie will be discussing YOLO's process of predicting and identifying trend palettes, and how trend predictions fit into the world of architectural color. After the short talk, attendees can use the color trend palettes to create one-of-a-kind color spin-art on the YOLO Colorhouse pedal-powered spin art bike!
