Spring Palette 2011

CLAY .07 is the perfect old-fashioned peony; pink with a pinch of orange - lively, dramatic and timeless. THRIVE .04 is a contemporary twist on vintage green, paired with CLAY .07, this floral feast exudes optimism like the first blossoms of the season. AIR .01, a solid warm white and NOURISH .03, an earthy, neutral grey, are supporting colors that anchor the duo and ground the palette. Rooted in nostalgia, it's a palette for today.

The Hudson Valley Seed Library

seed

One thing that helps us endure long, rainy winter months is dreaming about and planning our garden.  Recently, a friend, and fellow gardener, introduced us to The Hudson Valley Seed Library They collect heirloom seeds from the Hudson Valley region of New York. The seed packets feature artwork designed by New York artists and unfold in a flower-like fashion, revealing an inner pack of seeds. In addition to being beautiful, they are printed using green inks on sturdy recycled and FSC-certified paper stock. See some colorful examples of the packets on our blog

Greetings!

hudson valleyOur optimism is increasing as we get closer to warm weather and the gardening season -- that's when all the color comes out!  It has been a busy winter -- here's a brief update on what we have been working on....

We are honored to work with companies that are "making the world more colorful and less volatile," like Annie's Homegrown (the mac and cheese folks) and The Dinner Garden, a non-profit helping to feed people through home gardening!

While planning our gardens, we discovered a colorful seed company, Hudson Valley Seed Library, featured below. They collect heirloom seeds and support local artists at the same time  -- it doesn't get any cooler than that!

Some of the biggest news for YOLO Colorhouse is that you can now find us in 20 Lowe's Home Improvement stores on the West Coast!  Click here to find the store closest to you.

We will be at Green Festival in Seattle May 21-22 and Dwell on Design in LA June 24-26, come by our booth and do a little Spin Art with zero VOC paint.  Hope to see you there!

Happy painting and happy planting,

Recently on Facebook, we partnered with The Dinner Garden to help raise funds to provide seeds and gardening supplies for families in need and winners were selected to win a free quart of paint.  Thank you to our fans for your comments -- we were able to raise enough money to provide seeds for 80 families of 7!

Annie's Homegrown:

New Offices

We helped Annie's Homegrown choose colors for their new office space in Berkeley, CA.  Working with the creatives at Annie's, we chose a palette that is  bright, fun, and engaging....just like their brand!  AIR .02 can be found throughout the space -- this warm white acted as the palette's neutral-- while accents of CLAY .03, LEAF .04, and WATER .06 can be found as coloristic surprises in offices, meeting rooms, and the all-important company kitchen.  The end result is an office filled with bright and happy hues!

Watch for a Facebook contest in late May to win Annie's and YOLO loot!
