ENABLES DOZENS OF TEENS TO ENJOY   MEMORABLE HIGH SCHOOL EVENTS
A Special Evening of "Shopping"
Volunteer Debra Kim with Prom Dress

Volunteer Debra Kim helps a young client wrap her newly-acquired prom dress.

End-of-year high school prom is the capstone social event for teenagers across America. Here in Westchester, fancy proms are the norm. But the expense of formal wear and accessories can put the prom out of reach for many. Each year, the Center collects gently used formal wear to outfit local teens. Led by Debra Kim, this year's volunteers repaired, spot cleaned and steam pressed over 200 donated dresses. Early in May, Elephant's Trunk hosted "fitting evenings" in the Mt. Kisco store. Students from Fox Lane HS, Ossining and Somers selected dresses, while Center volunteers helped with fitting and minor alterations.

The evening was filled with "oo's and ahh's" and compliments on lovely looks. Young women left the store with a beautiful

Giving Clients Tools for Financial Literacy
Bank of America Reps Instruct Center Clients

Local bankers Angel Gauthier and Sam Ferrufino at the Center during a recent session on the basics of personal finance.

For many of the Center's  clients, the world of banks can seem inaccessible. In keeping with the Center's mission to "help clients help themselves,"  representatives from a local bank came to the Center last Saturday to lead a session on the basics of banking and personal finance. With increased understanding of services available, we hope our clients will build a stronger personal financial future for their families.
