Campus Leader Graduate Prepares for a Life of Missionary Work Across the World!
The vision for CHANGE Collegian Network has always been to raise up soul winners and missionaries, who teach others to win souls to Christ biblically. As we see this vision unfold before our eyes, we praise the Lord, Who raises up laborers (Luke 10:2) and solicit your continued prayer. Ever heard of the 10/40 Window? It is an area of the world that contains the largest population of non-Christians on the planet... from North Africa across to China. Millions and millions of people in this unreached region of the world practice Islam, Atheism, Buddhism, and Hinduism. Most have never even heard of Jesus Christ! It is here where Luke Cada, CCN Campus Leader graduate from Midland Lutheran College, is preparing to settle and serve the Lord.
Currently, Luke, 24, is training for his missionary journey at Bethany College of Missions in Bloomington, Minnesota. Being a CCN Campus Leader was his first missionary experience and his college campus was his first mission field.
Campus Leaders are assigned a CCN Mentor to constantly encourage them throughout the semester, train them, help them plan, and keep them accountable on their college campus. Ministering on a college campus is no easy task. When asked how being a Campus Leader prepared him to be a missionary, he replied, "Being a CCN leader was a hard, yet rewarding effort. The students opposed the gospel. You preach it and no one receives it. I was not persecuted, but I was shunned. More than anything, there was a spiritual battle. The enemy had such a stronghold there. The experience on Midland gave me a little insight of what it would be like in the mission field in a Muslim nation. I look back at the three years of labor on Midland, and I know God was pleased with everything that happened there."
Luke is a smart young man with so much potential to build a career and live the "American Dream" safely in the United States. Why would he leave the comfort of this lifestyle to live in a country where he may be harshly persecuted or even killed? "As a Christian, it is not our life to live how we want. Really, our time here is so short. As a Christian, living for yourself is not living at all. Our true treasure is in heaven anyway. It is a sacrificed life. You are throwing yourself in another country, different language, away from your family. You are saying 'no' to yourself and saying 'yes' to what God wants in your life."
Luke is currently raising support in his local church in Nebraska. He has yet to decide which nation he will travel to, but has already decided how long he will remain. " I have to learn their language, culture, eat what they eat, slowly get to know the people, get them saved, and begin to build churches. That could take 30 to 40 years and I would not mind living there that long. There are people there who have never heard the gospel." What an encouragement to see our beloved Brother Luke off across the world after being our first out-of-state Campus Leader in 2005. We are greatly encouraged by His faith and commitment to His Father's call. Please pray for Brother Luke Cada and help support His calling financially if you are able: mrcada@hotmail.com.
