Project Connect Training Event January 19, 2012

Help a Young Person Discern their Future

Train to be part of one of the most exciting ventures in day to day ministry. My name is Pastor Bob Mitchell and I am well known for not being involved in many things on the synodical level .(That is not bragging. It is confessing). But in the last few years, I have participated in a project called Project Connect. I can honestly say that it has breathed new life into this 54-year-old. Plain and simple it is helping persons 18 - 30 discern if they would like to persue a call to public ministry.

The joy of this work is that I get to hear young people share their stories of how they are exploring what they would like to do with their lives. I am not pressured to get a certain outcome. I only listen and encourage and assure them that God can use them in many ways. Never have I felt so young again remembering what I went through at that age. It is a joy to be refreshed by young voices who have dreams and aspirations for the future.

Project Connect has recently gone from being directed from a central headquarters in New Hampshire to being led by our own synod team. The Lily Foundation has given us $10,000 to get it off the ground. To this end, Project Connect will be training people - discernment advocates - and having events for people 18-30 who are exploring a life in public ministry.

The first one day training event will be held at Christ the Lord Lutheran Church in Lawrenceville, GA on January 19th from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. All clergy are invited to come. This is free and a meal will be provided. Your only obligation is to be willing to encourage and listed to people who have a heart for God in your church and in your area.

I cannot encourage you enough to be part of this. It has changed my life. If you would like to attend, either e-mail me at pastorbob@christthelordlutheran.org or call me at 404-509-2508. We look forward to meeting you.
