Two days left to register online for your 2009 ELCA-Southeastern
Synod Assembly.
On-line registration will be available
until April 30, 2009. The on-line registration fee is $125 for
voting members and $75 for retired rostered persons and visitors. Click here to register (http://www.regonline.com/Checkin.asp?EventId=696024)
After April 30, attendees register
on-site at the Assembly, June 5, 6 & 7 held at the Renaissance Waverly hotel,
2450 Galleria Parkway, Atlanta,
GA 30339. Cost for on-site registration will be $135 for
voting members and $85 for retired rostered persons and visitors.
Your assembly registration does not
include accommodations. The Renaissance is offering special rates of
$112.00 a night for single or double deluxe rooms. Rooms will fill quickly at

AFFIRM 2009

Only 6 weeks until Affirm 2009! AFFIRM
is a five-day youth event of faith, fellowship, and friends sponsored by the
ELCA Southeastern Synod. Grounded in Scripture, the event offers youth the
opportunity to develop the ministry/life skills that allow each individual to
know and live out God's affirming touch in Jesus Christ. Affirm nurtures
faith and equips youth leaders for today and tomorrow. It is for youth who have
finished grades 7th-12th grades as well as for young
adults unit who are freshman or sophomores in college who would like 30 hours of
Youth Ministry Training. If you know of a young person who would benefit from
Affirm, please forward this email on to them and/or their parents!
AFFIRM 2009 will be held at the
University of North Alabama in Florence, (which is 70 miles west of Huntsville
on Highway 72). AFFIRM 2009 will begin on Sunday, June 14 and conclude on
Friday, June 19.
The cost includes lodging, all meals
from Sunday supper through Friday lunch, an event T-shirt, and all program
costs. This year the cost is $375.00. Check with your church youth
advisor for congregational scholarships and/or transportation planning for this
event.
Scholarship assistance is available
from AFFIRM. Please fill out the Scholarship Form included in the registration
packet and return before May 1. Click here for registration packet.
You can register online at www.sesyouth.org. Or you can send in your
paperwork to our registrar. We will be accepting registrations until Affirm
2009 is full!
If you would like to donate to
the Affirm you can do so by using paypal at www.sesyouth.org
or send a check to the Synod Office and designate it Affirm Scholars Fund. Last
year over $5000 was given out to help youth across our synod attend Affirm. As
you can imagine, the need is even greater this year.
