YMCA Impact
Share Your YMCA Story!
The YMCA plays a large role helping children, families, and individuals navigate the challenges and opportunities of everyday life. With these challenges and opportunities, the Hampton Family YMCA invites you to share your YMCA success story with us!
We are seeking stories that we can share to everyone in the community showing the positive impact the YMCA has had in an individual, family, and community's life. Please stop by the Welcome Center to share your written story today!
Here are some stories that have already been shared:
I did not know where to turn a couple of years ago when my mother passed away. She was always very supportive in many ways such as caring for my son before and after school. I grew up being a latch key kid and didn't want that for my son. After reasearching my options we came to the YMCA.
The school age program has given my son the opportunity to interact with other kids his age; he's grown more confident, outgoing and active. Without this program I do not know how I would have managed working full-time as well as a part-time job to make ends meet. It has given me peace of mind knowing my son is in a safe and productive environment where he can learn and grow when I have to work. the school age program gives him an opportunity to be a kid. For that I am truly grateful. - Adrian
The YMCA is a godsend to me and my family. I am glad to know that the YMCA is here to assist us, and other families who are experiencing the economic crisis. Bright Beginnings lifts a burden off my shoulders because I know that my children will start the school year off right and have everything they need to confidently put their best foot forward. Thank you for everything you do, we appreciate you.
- Joan
I have always been a very active YMCA member. I was diagnosed with colon cancer in the early months of 2009. Prior to that, I had lost over 100 lbs. from exercising on a regular basis, but was soon limited to only exercising when chemotherapy allowed me to. I struggled through the pain of working out because the YMCA is my community, a place where I can find strength among friends in a time of need. - Ron

Easy Zucchini Parmesan
This quick and healthy snack tastes like a gourmet side-dish, but just takes minutes to prepare! And as a bonus, it's an easy way to get the kids to eat their vegetables.
INGREDIENTS Zucchini, 1 cup, sliced Parmesan Cheese, grated, 1 tbsp I Can't Believe It's Not Butter, Original Buttery Spray, 10 sprays Non-stick cooking spray
DIRECTIONS Line a cookie sheet with aluminum foil, then coat with some non-stick cooking spray. Place the zucchini slices out on the pan, then spritz with them with the butter spray. Sprinkle on the parmesan cheese and then pop it in the oven. Broil for a few minutes - until the cheese starts to brown. Enjoy it while it's warm!
