Teatime May Fend Off Ovarian Cancer

Other than pregnancy and regular use of birth control pills, there aren't many steps a woman can take to reduce ovarian cancer risk. This makes this latest research, which points to the protective effects in the simple habit of drinking tea, all the more exciting.
Tapping into tea
To better understand how tea may affect ovarian cancer risk, researchers compared green, black, and herbal tea drinking habits of 1,368 women with and 1,416 women without ovarian cancer. The women were similar to one another in terms of age and area of residence.
Women who drank four or more cups of any type of tea per day were 29% less likely to be diagnosed with ovarian cancer compared with women who reported drinking no tea. When considered individually, each type of tea-green, black, and herbal-appeared to protect against ovarian cancer, although none of these results were statistically significant.

SUPPLEMENT SPOTLIGHT | |
One of the reasons we exercise is to maintain a healthy weight. Naturalean with 7-Keto -when part of your diet and exercise regimen - provides that extra boost that makes keeping a trim waistline just a little bit easier. Naturalean with 7-Keto does this, in part, by supporting the thyroid. The thyroid gland is responsible for many things, including immune health, but it is also your metabolism's "gas pedal." By adding Naturalean with 7-Keto, you can support energy levels, reduce hunger cravings, and help keep hormones in balance, too. But it's not a stimulant - it won't raise your heart rate, blood pressure, or keep you awake. Just think of Naturalean with 7-Keto as an encouraging exercise coach-an added plus when you follow a healthy diet and exercise routine.

Triple Berry Margaritas: Cool Down with Quenching Cocktails
Bon Appétit | July 2002
For extra-slushy Margaritas, freeze the drinks in the blender jar at least thirty minutes and up to one hour; stir, if necessary, before serving. Instead of using salt, coat the glass rims with superfine sugar: Run a lime wedge along the rims to moisten, then dip them into a shallow saucer of sugar. For a healthier option, skip the alcohol.
Yield: Serves 8 to 10
Ingredients:
1/2-pint baskets blackberries 1 1/2-pint basket raspberries 1/2 cup fresh lime juice 2/3 cup sugar 1 1/2 cups gold tequila 2/3 cup Grand Marnier 2 1-pint baskets strawberries, sliced, frozen 1 hour 5 cups ice
Preparation:
Puree blackberries, raspberries, and lime juice in blender until smooth. Strain through fine mesh strainer into large measuring cup. Add sugar; stir until dissolved. Refrigerate berry puree at least 1 hour and up to 1 day.
Mix tequila and Grand Marnier into berry puree. Transfer half of mixture to blender; add half of frozen strawberries and 2 1/2 cups ice. Blend until smooth. Transfer to pitcher. Repeat with remaining berry puree, frozen strawberries, and ice. Pour into sugar-rimmed Margarita glasses and serve.

HEALTHY HUMOR | |
Last month we featured the life lessons taught by John Wooden, which have become legend. Here's the continuation of the collection.
"You can't let praise or criticism get to you. It's a weakness to get caught up in either one."
"You can't live a perfect day without doing something for someone who will never be able to repay you."
"What you are as a person is far more important than what you are as a basketball player."
"Winning takes talent; to repeat takes character."
"A coach is someone who can give correction without causing resentment."
"I'd rather have a lot of talent and a little experience than a lot of experience and a little talent."
"If you don't have time to do it right, when will you have time to do it over?"
"If you're not making mistakes, then you're not doing anything. I'm positive that a doer makes mistakes."
"It isn't what you do, but how you do it."
"Ability is a poor man's wealth."
