New Mortgage insurer opening in Radnor
Investors have poured $500 million into a new mortgage-insurance company, Essent Guaranty Inc., that is based in Radnor and headed by a local financial executive, the company announced today.
Essent, backed by Wall Street investment firms and reinsurance companies, is being launched at a time of turmoil and uncertainty in the mortgage-insurance industry, which is reeling from billions in losses and dogged by doubts about its future.

GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS

Landscapes 2
Significant changes have occurred in Chester County since the adoption of Landscapes in 1996. Since that time, Chester County has become the fastest growing county in Pennsylvania - increasing by over 70,000 people in the last twelve years. The median home price has more than doubled between 1995 and 2007 (from $155,000 to $312,500). Over 54,000 new housing units have been proposed for development over the same period.
Chester County is now a regional employment center - not just a "bedroom community" of commuters driving outside the County to work. In ten years, the number of registered vehicles in the County grew by 35% - that's 100,000 vehicles, all of which have an impact on area roadways.
You are invited to visit the website and offer comment on any aspect of the draft plan.
