Potential buyer wants to demolish historic building
EAST BRANDYWINE - The owner of the historic Guthriesville General Store has a potential buyer for the site, but a condition of the sale is that the general store be torn down. Historic preservationists in the township and the county have been trying for years to save the store on the corner of Bondsville Road and Route 322 that was slated to be demolished to make way for a Wawa. Wawa withdrew from the project last December, citing economic conditions and continuing lengthy and costly legal challenges.
