The best advice for first-time homebuyersWith neighborhoods across the country filled with spectacularly low-priced properties for sale, and with interest rates at historic lows, prospective first-time homebuyers may once more feel the time is ripe to buy.
But while real-estate experts see this as a good thing, they also advise caution: That same sense of urgency to get while the getting's good can often prevent people from fully considering what they're getting into. What are the biggest factors first-time homebuyers should consider before wading into today's market?
According to Dr. Gary Painter, director of research at the USC Lusk Center for Real Estate in Los Angeles, the most important thing to keep in mind is that no deal is so good that one should ignore financial common sense.

Potential buyer wants to demolish historic building
EAST BRANDYWINE - The owner of the historic Guthriesville General Store has a potential buyer for the site, but a condition of the sale is that the general store be torn down.
Historic preservationists in the township and the county have been trying for years to save the store on the corner of Bondsville Road and Route 322 that was slated to be demolished to make way for a Wawa.
Wawa withdrew from the project last December, citing economic conditions and continuing lengthy and costly legal challenges.
Owner Claudio DiGiamberardino has had the property, which also includes the General Rental building, for sale ever since.
