Legislation that addresses blight advances
Legislation that would address blight, abandoned properties, lost tax revenue and declining property values was approved by the House Urban Affairs Committee this week, announced state Rep. Art Hershey (R-Chester), a co-sponsor of the measure."The Land Banks Authorities Act would provide local governments and municipalities with the ability to set up a land bank and access federal funding for the purpose of managing and developing foreclosed and abandoned properties," said Hershey. "This would go a long way in helping to improve the rural, suburban and urban landscape of our Commonwealth, which is estimated to currently have 300,000 vacant or abandoned properties within its borders."
