PBA Testifies before House Labor Relations Committee
Lou Biacchi, PBA Director of Government Affairs, testified before the House Labor Relations Committee during a public hearing at Ridley High School on Wednesday, April 23rd. At issue was House Bill 2400, which is designed to ensure employers are properly classifying employees and independent contractors, and are not attempting to avoid paying appropriate benefits and worker's compensation premiums.  While acknowledging there are abuses in the current system, Biacchi noted that House Bill 2400, as drafted was not the proper solution. He pledged that the building industry would commit to finding a workable compromise that would not penalize honest contractors. HBA Executive Vice President Michael McGee also attended the hearing in support of PBA.  Representative Bryan Lentz of Delaware County is the bill's prime sponsor. More...

6th Annual Top of the World Fishing Trip/Fundraiser
 
The Friends of Lou Schisler present the 6th Annual Top of the World Fishing Trip and Memorial Fundraiser.
 
When: Thursday-Friday June 12-13, 2008
 
Where: Harrison's Chesapeake House Inn, Tilghman Island, MD.
 
All proceeds from the fundraiser will go to the Williamson Free School of Mechanical Trades for a scholarship in the Building and Construction Trades.
