One Last Request

PIC OF BOARDSBelow is the letter that we sent you earlier this month.  Just a reminder that it's your last chance to donate before the end of the tax year!

Dear Forklift Friend -

TON.  We toss that word around so easily - "I have a ton of work to do," or "I ate a ton of cookies."  For most of us it's a simple exaggeration.

But for Community Forklift, the word represents real and demonstrated accomplishment. We spare many TONS of building materials from the landfill and provide TONS of low-cost supplies to folks like you in the DC area.

For the past five years we have worked hard to serve you. We've supplied low-cost building materials and unusual architectural salvage, and tried to be a knowledgeable and friendly staff that can advise you on your projects. We've driven our truck to every corner of  the DC region to pick up donated materials, and we've provided many educational activities to help you green your home on a budget.  We've even hosted local musicians and artists to build a sense of community and encourage creative reuse.

But it doesn't end there;  we also work with local social service agencies to provide appliances, cabinets, and necessary home improvement items to low-income persons and families to assist them in tough times.

We have even had a ripple effect on the local economy!  Donors have been able to save on disposal costs and earn tax breaks.  Local contractors have been able to keep their material costs low, allowing them to pass the savings onto clients and keep working despite the tough economy.

If you've been to Community Forklift, I bet you know that we are truly mission driven.  We care most about strengthening and supporting our community.

But we need your helpOur goal is to make Community Forklift a permanent resource in the metro DC area.  To survive, we need to reduce our overhead and occupancy costs, and continue to improve and expand our operations.

PIC OF DEBBIE IN SNOWSo please show some Forklift love by considering a donation of ANY size. We know that in these difficult economic times, funds are scarce - which is exactly why it's so important for ventures like Community Forklift to continue to thrive and grow.

We are a locally-based organization striving to put our principles into action. We are very appreciative of your contribution and encourage you to continue to help us continue our good work!

Sincerely,

The Community Forklift Staff

(Nancy, Keith, Ruthie, Meghan, Freddy, Doug, Jim, William, Joe, Kitty, Curtis, Matt, Sean, Alex, Debby, Terry, Jesse, Lucinda, and Bea)
