Ask-the-Expert Series
Held at Community Forklift. It's free - just bring your questions!
Ask the Green Plumber Sat. Sept 11,
9-10 am

Fred Werth is a master plumber/gas fitter, with 41 years in the trade. Five years ago, he decided to focus on alternative energy, including solar hot water heaters, boilers, radiant heat, tankless water heaters, and other green plumbing options for homes and businesses.
He will answer your questions about
energy analyses of homes or businesses, how to choose an energy system, insulation options, and what to do when.

(Registration is not required, but Fred's bringing a breakfast snack & coffee, so we'd like to have a head count. Just e-mail Ruthie to let us know you're coming). |
Do you use reclaimed materials
in your crafts or artwork?
You may remember our Green Gift Fair last winter. Artists and woodworkers donated really beautiful pieces to be sold (proceeds went to our building fund). On the weekends, crafters exhibited and sold their work. The Forklift Fans enjoyed finding unique gifts, and our local artists got some publicity.
It was a big hit, so we're going to do it again!
Don't forget: you can take a tax deduction for donated artwork. And if you'd like to sell your crafts, exhibit spaces are free.
If you want to participate this year, please email Ruthie ASAP, or call 301-985-5180.

You're invited...
We opened our antique department exactly one year ago. It's been even more successful than we hoped! We've been able to stock a wider variety of architectural salvage, so folks restoring old homes have been able to find good bargains on vintage materials as well as more valuable, unusual items. It's drawn new customers to the store, and - very importantly - the revenue is helping Community Forklift become more financially sustainable.
Please celebrate with us!

In fact, our friends at All2Dance used cabinet boxes in their studio. They got several white wall cabinets, took off the doors, and mounted them in a line along the top of the wall. It made a great shadowbox display for their many dance trophies!

Are you good with a camera?
As a nonprofit, we have little money for print or TV advertising. This means that most new donors and customers learn about us through word-of-mouth or online. Therefore, our website is often the first place they go. However, our site has very few pictures. It would be fantastic to have more photos to put on the website! It would also be great to get pictures of Forklift Fans at events, like the upcoming anniversary party.
Are there any volunteer photographers out there?
Pros and amateurs welcome! Please contact
Ruthie. You will receive a little store credit to thank you for your time. |
