News & Notes

It's Time for B6Ts!  Better known as the Transportation Form, a B6T must be filled out for every Ellison student -- regardless of whether or not he/she rides the bus.  These forms are due back by March 9, 2012, so please print, fill out and return it ASAP.  Thank you.  Click here to print a B6T.

All Smiles!  Class photos will be taken on the morning of Wednesday, February 29, 2012.  Please return your photo forms (sent home last week) as soon as possible if you would like to order a photo of your child's class.

Old Bikes Needed: Do you have old/used bicycles in your garage or basement that your kids can no longer use?  If so, we can make good use of them as Ellison Interact members assist with the Pedals for Progress program.  "Pedals" collects and ships bicycles, of all shapes and sizes and in all conditions, overseas where they are used by villagers for transportation to and from work and school.  Even if the bike you have is broken, bring it on, as it will be repaired or used for parts.  Bikes can be dropped off at school (see Mrs. Kinkade), or we can arrange pick up.  Just let us know.  Thanks!

Retail SCRIP -- The next order will be placed this Friday, February 24.  Please have all orders in (to the attention of Claire Piccini) by noon on that day.  Thanks!

Events & Clubs

Ellison's Got Talent!  The last day to sign up is February 29, so please stop in the office for a full packet of information.

Volunteers Needed for Open House and Bring a Friend to School Day -- We need tour guides, greeters, student escorts, and more!  If you can help, please contact Mrs. Kinkade.  There will be a brief training session held twice on Monday, March 5 -- at 8:30 a.m. and again at 5:15 p.m., here at the school.  If you would like to be a tour guide, please plan to attend one of these sessions.

Everyone can help by spreading the word about the upcoming Open House and Bring A Friend To School Day on Wednesday, March 7.  Open House runs until 1:00 p.m.

We will also be hosting visiting friends/students (in grades 1-7) for the day.  If your child has a friend who would like to experience Ellison firsthand, please let us know.  All friends are welcome, but MUST BE PRE-REGISTERED for the day/visit.  Younger students (Toddlers, Preschool and Kindergarten) who would like to visit may do so (with a parent) from 10:00-11:00 a.m. that day.  (Click here for a registration form.)  A special assembly for all students will take place in the gym from 9:00-10:00 a.m.

auctioneerThink Spring! -- Spring Spectacular, that is, and we need your help!  Do you own a business, or know someone who does and might be willing to donate a product, service or gift card?  Do you have a timeshare or summer home that you could donate for a week?  Are you especially skilled (chef, firefighter, musician, dancer, medical professional, etc.) and willing to offer an experiential package to our auction block?  Click here for a copy of our donation letter/form.

These are just some of the ways you can help.  We are also in need of gift cards to Michael's, WalMart and Marshall's (all available through Retail SCRIP) for use in purchasing items for silent auction baskets.  Speaking of baskets, we need those too!  The bigger, the better!

Most of all, we need you to attend the auction and to have a great time.  Whether you bid or not, you'll have a blast!  Plus, you'll get to be among the very first people to dine at the new Greenview Inn at Eastlyn Golf Club!  Mark your calendars for Friday, April 20!

Explore with Us!  -- Horseback riding; the beach; Garden State Discovery Museum, Adventure Aquarium, Beaver Dam, Nifty 50's, Cape May, the high seas; and more await you at camp this summer!  You can also count on solving a real crime scene, two-steppin' your way through a hoedown, playing drums of the world, grooming horses, climbing a lighthouse, and "visiting" five different countries to name just a few of the activities we have planned.  And...we're not even done yet!!  Camp materials will be available this week!

EPTO

Save Your Pennies -- The EPTO coin drive is underway and runs all month long!  The top classes will win prizes!  You may donate coins and/or box tops and soup labels!
