The third annual Lake City Community Youth Corps is up and running.  On Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays - if you see our youth workers in red & blue shirts & hard hats, stop by and say hello.

Greetings!

Welcome to our monthly newsletter!  You'll find information on our revitalization and historic preservation efforts in Lake City, Colorado, as well as the scoop on local businesses and community happenings.  Enjoy.

Town Wide Yard Sale - July 18th.  Sign up to be on the map (deadline is July 10th).  Cost if $5.  944-DIRT or online 
 
Lake City DIRT has been identified by the Colorado Economic Development Commission as a Contribution Project.  This means a portion of your cash and in-kind donations (25% and 12.5%) can be applied towards Colorado state taxes.    This applies to all 2009 donations.   
 
August 2009 is Lake City History Month.
   Click here for a schedule of events celebrating 135 years of Lake City settlement.   This month-long celebration of our heritage brings together many organizations and individuals.  Enjoy these fun events!

2009 Youth Corps program led by Kyle Robinson, Martha Levine, and Jen Baker has hired eight local youth and one assistant leader.     
 
Thank you to the Boardwalk A-Team (Larry Iiams, Russ Brown, Bob Stigall, and Alan Moore) for your continued work.   
 
A delegation from the community of Saguache enjoyed a boardwalk tour by Russ Brown this week.  They are looking at a similar project in their town.  Thanks, Russ - for hospitality.

Art Walk & Auction, August 8th, at 2 p.m.   Artistic renditions of the 3-D deer forms will be placed in Lake City businesses prior to the event.  Thank you to all our volunteer artists.  If you have not yet returned your deer, please do so by July 10th. 
 
Thanks to the Pioneer Jubilee Women's Club, Lake City DIRT has produced "Lake City - A Kid-Friendly Town."  Pick one up at the Visitor's Center or local businesses.
