Project

DIRT applied for and received status as a Contribution Project.  The purpose of this program is to offer additional tax incentives to donors in rural enterprise zones.  For cash contributions in the 2009 calendar year, a donor will receive a 25% tax credit (not a deduction).  For in-kind contributions, including skilled labor contributions, donors will receive 12.5% tax credit.

This is the 15th project identified in Region 10.   All private donations made during the 2009 calendar year are eligible.  The project may be renewed at the end of the year.  For more information, contact the DIRT office.

 local
The majority of Americans are taking a step back, and evaluating income and expenses.  This is prudent in an economic downturn.  It is also appropriate to look at the expenditures we are planning (like eating out twice a month or socializing with friends once a week or replacing the broken vacuum cleaner or scheduling that oil change) and see if these expenditures can be done in Lake City.

If you can, why not spend your money here?  Our micro-economic climate will actually be impacted directly.  Money spent in town recycles in the community several times.

Challenging times call for innovative solutions.  Lake City DIRT is now soliciting and gladly accepting any and all suggestions for economic improvement, stimulus, sustainability, and improvement.

It's time to think outside the box.  How are we going to survive and thrive as a community?  We look forward to solving our economic challenges as a community.
