The light fluffy snowflakes are finally falling (it's December 8th!) and it feels like Christmas. I was especially reminded of the Christmas spirit this past weekend during Christmas in Lake City.
The light parade was fantastic (despite several blown fuses); the fruit cake toss was great; the crafts in the Armory were well-organized and fun; piles of cookies and wreaths filled the Black Crooke Theatre; and spectacular treats and delicacies filled local businesses. And I heard around town from several different folks that "we aren't spending money on Christmas this year, but what we are buying, we are buying locally."
As the economic downturn continues to play out, the importance of our small economy increases. Every dollar spent in Lake City turns over and turns over and can translate into almost $12 that supports local families, local businesses, local organizations, and local governments. When it makes sense for your purchases, please consider Lake City shopping first.
Happy holidays
