| Business Owner Survey Reviewed |
|
At the recent Coffee & Conversation, we reviewed the results of the Business Owner Survey.
Survey results - and subsequent discussion - focused on:
Continuous hours of operation for restaurant service, and the potential for a schedule
Shift in tourist market from multi-week visitors to long-weekend visitors (Marketing Board has begun to target Front Range)
Void in services and activities for kids (Kid-Friendly Publication, 2008 Project)
Senior Businesses - have been in operation more than twenty years and what that could mean to economy and new owners
Lack of downtown commercial space
Lack of employees
Pedestrian pathways connecting businesses (an impetus to the 2007 Boardwalk Project)

Happy Holidays!
Lake City is suddenly a winter wonderland!
Our 2007 Annual Report will be out next week, and we look forward to sharing all that's been accomplished in our community over the past year. The Lake City DIRT Board of Director's has passed a Strategic Plan, to guide our efforts for the next several years. We are embarking on an Economic Development Feasibility Study for the area, thanks to a Rural Development Grant ... big doings!
Lake City DIRT's various projects and programs depend on the generosity of private individuals for time and financial donations. As an organization, we are contributing approximately 4,000 hours of volunteer service to our community in 2007. That is nearly 11 hours every day, working to improve the business climate, economic sustainability, options for youth employment, historic preservation, downtown promotion, and aesthetics of Historic Downtown Lake City and the greater Lake City community. Our sustainability relies on your continued giving. You can make tax-deductible contributions directly to Lake City DIRT, or through the Lake Fork Community Foundation, and we are always looking for more volunteers - even virtual ones!
We look forward to a productive and propserous New Year, for our community and organization, and for you and your family and friends.
Respectfully,
Kristie Borchers Lake City DIRT |
