Prince Charles to cruise Caribbean
Britain's eco-conscious Prince Charles will tour the Caribbean in a luxury yacht in what is being billed as an environmentally friendly, cost-cutting move.  Charles' Clarence House office said Friday that the prince and his wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, had rented the 246-foot vessel Leander from businessman Donald Gosling for their 11-day trip next month.  The royal couple will visit Trinidad and Tobago, St. Lucia, Jamaica and the volcanic island of Montserrat on a trip that begins March 4.  Clarence House said the trip would "advance key British government priorities in the promotion of sustainable development, environmental protection and youth opportunity."  The office said sailing rather than flying between islands would reduce the trip's carbon footprint. It will also be cheaper than traveling by chartered plane.

'Might is right' will always prevail, and there's no question that in a collision, the sailing boat would probably come off worst. But this was not always the case....

Maine fishing boats leaving Portland for Massachusetts

Groundfishing boats are abandoning Portland and heading south, cutting the local fish supply for seafood processors and the Portland Fish Exchange and costing businesses that serve the fleet lost revenue. Most of the harbor's medium and large boats are now taking their catches to Gloucester, Mass., primarily because they can earn extra money selling lobsters they catch in their nets, a practice that is outlawed in Maine, the Maine Sunday Telegram reported.

Message in bottle holds clues to fate of missing sailors

A message in a bottle found on an Australian beach has provided some clues as to what happened to four  sailors lost at sea in 1988. The boat was headed up the Australian coast  when  it vanished  with all four crewmembers aboard.  Rumours of foul play have been discounted by the families after learning of the note, written 10 days prior to the disappearance of the boat.
