 Safety Net Program
We understand how inconvenient it is for customers who go without power for 48 hours or longer due to severe events, such as a storm.
Of course, PG&E is working to minimize the potential for outage problems in the future. While we cannot guarantee that Mother Nature will never behave badly, we can tell you, day and night, over 18,000 men and women were focused on providing our customers with responsive service during the recent outages. PG$E constantly working to improve and strengthen our electric system and find ways to safeguard against future outages.  Even if the federal government shuts down this weekend, mail delivery will continue, food stamps will be issued, veterans hospitals won't evict patients and border agents will stay on duty to screen travelers. But forget about visiting Yosemite National Park. .The closing of Yosemite for any length of time is certain to have a dramatic impact on local business. Especially at this time of year when visitation to the park is usually surging. Honorary Mayors Race Kicks Off at Yosemite Bank
The race is on! The Honorary Mayor Race will kick off on April 20th at Yosemite Bank with a Business Open House at 5:30 PM. Be sure to mark your calendars. The Honorary Mayoral Candidates will introduce themselves and provide appetizers. Beverages will be served by the Chamber (no host bar), and there will be lots of FREE raffle prizes to win!

SBA Launches New Online "Lender Toolkit"  WASHINGTON - Small business lenders now have access to more in-depth information and resources on U.S. Small Business Administration loan programs through the new Lender Toolkit on the agency's recently redesigned website.
The new site strengthens SBA collaboration with its lending partners, making it easier for them to identify the points of contact, loan programs and financing options that will best expand access to capital for local small businesses to help them grow and create jobs. Read More

Home & Garden Show Adds a Silent Auction
 Silent Auctions are an excellent advertising opportunity.
The Oakhurst Area Chamber is sponsoring the 2011 Oakhurst Home & Garden Show.
This event showcases local businesses and increases public awareness to the residents of our mountain community.
Attendees have the opportunity to see local businesses demonstrate their products & services and meet local business owners.
You can have a presence at the event by donating an item to the Silent Auction. Items can be brought to the Chamber office or one of our staff will be happy to come by your business to pickup.

Vision Academy's Grand Night For the Arts
 On Saturday, April 9, 2011, Vision Academy for the Arts will host the Sixth Annual Grand Night for the Arts at the Golden Chain Theater from 3:30 - 6:00 pm. This fund raising event will fund art and music scholarships for Yosemite High School Seniors and star awards for graduating 8th graders from Rivergold, Oak Creek, Coarsegold, and Wasuma Schools.

Dear Friend,
Sierra Telephone and Yosemite High School will be hosting the 25th Annual Paul and Martha Pitman Awards Banquet honoring the 2011 Yosemite High School Valedictorians. The Pitmans, who were both educators in their 70's, came to Oakhurst to retire. They were a driving force behind the formation of Yosemite High School. With their determination and dedication Paul and Martha Pitman made Yosemite High School, what used to be a dream, into a reality. Yosemite High School opened its doors to approximately 450 students in September of 1976.

Extensive Renovations Completed at Ahwahnee Hotel
After a three week shutdown to allow for extensive renovations to be completed, the Ahwahnee Hotel in Yosemite National Park has reopened today. Restaurants, shops, public spaces, and most of the guest rooms have reopened to the public. The complex project was a collaborative effort between the National Park Service and DNC Parks & Resorts at Yosemite, Inc., the park's primary concessioner. Read More |

Ducey's on the Lake 20th Anniversary
 Hard to believe that on April 20th, Ducey's on the Lake celebrates its 20th Anniversary. Executive Chef Johnathan Frabotta and his culinary staff have prepared some fantastic specials for locals and out-of-town guests to enjoy as we celebrate this event. But Ducey's would like to give back to the community which has supported it for more than these past twenty years.
