U.S. Representative Jeff Denham speaks at Oakhurst EDC Luncheon in April
Meet Jeff Denham, U. S. Representative from the 19th Congressional District of of California. Jeff was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in November, 2010, replacing George Radanovich.
Jeff serves on the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, the Natural Resources Committee, and Veterans' Affairs.

Oakhurst Feed Announces 2011 Chick Days Oakhurst, Calif. (February 24, 2011) - Oakhurst Feed is pleased to announce their 2011 Chick Days, providing poultry raising resources to the Oakhurst community beginning March 5, 2011. The popularity of raising poultry in both farms and urban backyards is sweeping the nation and providing chicken owners with healthier meat and eggs, homegrown food and fun pets. Oakhurst Feed will be kicking off the chick season with a free seminar geared toward family flocks and backyard chicken owners at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 5. Speakers will be giving tips on raising chickens, and Oakhurst Feed will be giving away a 50 lb. bag of Certified Natural Start & Grow® feed.

We will be unveiling our plans to build a Youth Learning Center at Sierra Meadows Country Club. This learning center will be one of only a handful found in the country and it will feature a 3-hole golf course, driving range, office, and computer lab. The Administration strongly supports efforts to repeal the provision in the Affordable Care Act that established information reporting requirements for tax purposes that place an unnecessary bookkeeping burden on small businesses. The Administration is committed to reducing the gap between taxes legally owed and taxes paid, but believes that the burden created on businesses by the new information reporting requirement on purchases of goods that exceed $600, as included in Section 6041 of the Internal Revenue Code as modified by Section 9006 of the Affordable Care Act, is too great.

Sierra National Forest submitting OHV grant application
2/23/11 - Clovis, Calif. -- Each year the State of California makes funding available through the Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) Grants Program. The grants program provides financial assistance to eligible agencies and organizations (federal, city, county, nonprofit, etc.) that develop, maintain, operate, expand, support, or contribute to well managed, high-quality, OHV recreation areas, roads and trails. This year the State has $27 million available for education, operation and maintenance, law enforcement and restoration projects. Read More

Half Dome Cables Day Use Permits Available Now
 Yosemite National Park Instituting Permits Seven Days Per Week in 2011 National Park will require Day Use Permits seven days per week for climbing the Half Dome cables during the summer 2011 season. Day Use Permits were required Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays during the 2010 summer season. However, due to high volumes of people on the cables during the non permitted days, the park is instituting the seven day requirement. This is part of a two year interim program designed to address crowding on the cables that has been occurring over the past few years.

The California Creativity State Tournament will be held at Yosemite High School this year courtesy of a few of your fellow DI mates! We, Erica Grant, Kazia Hart, and Shelli Christianson, will be the first high schoolers to organize and host a Destination Imagination tournament.
