Business Spotlight
 Above the Fog Marketing
Started in 2008 Above the Fog Marketing is the answer to your marketing and advertising frustrations. Having owned numerous small businesses in the Oakhurst area we know how frustrating it is to spend thousands of dollars wondering if you're getting a good return on investment.
Our solution is to provide a number of marketing and advertising vehicles that are affordable, effective and will get your message in front of an engaged audience. With more than 100,000 people per year going to our local movie theatre, why be lost in 20 pages of newsprint when you could be on screen at The MET Cinema? Why spend hundreds of dollars each month on the yellow pages when focused online marketing reaches your target market at a fraction of the cost?

Coolwater Ranch presents Thom Bresh
Saturday March 26 at 8:00pm
From a Southern California stage at the age of three, with a loosely strung ukulele, to one of the many great concert halls in the world today, armed with his two sided Langejans "Super Dualette"guitar (he refers to it as "My Band"), Thom Bresh, the 2001 inductee into the "Thumbpickers Hall of Fame" and his six string friends have been entertaining people for a lifetime. Whether he is leaning against a wall telling you how his day went or shaking the walls of a concert hall with that famous hard driving thumb, first and foremost, you will be entertained. He is equally at home on stage in a stadium or on a couch in someone's living room. Add to this scenario a deep, witty and gritty singing voice set in the middle of that relentless, powerful groove and you have a genuine force to deal with.

Are you taking advantage of a Roth IRA?
Simply put...contributing to a Roth Individual Retirement Account (IRA) may be a smart money move. The question then is...are you taking full advantage? The benefit of contributing to the Roth IRA is the money you put into one of these accounts grows tax free and distributions may be made tax free.1
If you haven't opened a Roth IRA, do it now. You have until your tax deadline (typically April 15) to set up an account and make contributions for the previous year. Annual contributions are limited; currently the maximum amount is $5,000.2 That means you can invest $5,000 for 2010, giving you a solid start to your savings.

This Is Your Community Park Oakhurst Community ParkA Modern Fairy Tale Written By Mary Pence
Once upon a time, in the early 1980's, a small group of Oakhurst residents banded together to recreate a local park similar to those each fondly remembered from youth. It would be a place with swings and slides; a place with picnic tables and grills for hot dogs and hamburgers; a place with green grass that stretched far enough to run to catch a ball, turn cartwheels and somersaults until we collapsed, and send our dogs joyfully after a far-flung Frisbee.
It would be a place to spread a blanket, lie on our backs to search for the earthly things formed by passing clouds in the sky, play in the sunshine and laugh with family and friends. It would be all that.
Many towns have such a place. Usually they come by such a place because it's a function of city taxes or recreational districts. We didn't have either of those resources- never have and still don't. If Oakhurst were to have a park, we would have to build it ourselves. And, so, we have. This is the park that Oakhurst built. This is the park that we've all created.
