Bass Lake Triathlon Is Back
The Bass Lake Triathlon, an event that drew hundreds of top competitors during its heyday and has been dormant since its last was held in 1998 has been resurrected. The Yosemite Sierra Visitors Bureau and local business owners have brought back the old triathlon event. The newly named and reinvented Bass Lake Classic Triathlon will now take place June 4, 2011.
In 1983 and 1984, at the dawn of the sport of triathlon, the Bass Lake Triathlon hosted the first ever USA Triathlon National Championships. The list of participants read like a Who's Who of the fledgling sport back then.
