Chukchansi Grant Moves Schedule Up in 2011
In an effort to get the much-needed Community Grant awards working in the community earlier in the year, the Picayune Rancheria of the Chukchansi Indians and the County of Madera agreed to move the filing deadline to January 1 through March 1 beginning in 2011.
"Over the last four years, the Community Grant Program has offered Madera County agencies funding opportunities they wouldn't have received otherwise," said Tom Wheeler, District 5 Supervisor and Chairman of the Board of Supervisors. "In its fifth year, the Tribe and the County wanted to make the grants available sooner so that organizations can utilize the funding earlier."

Supervisors Restore Funding for Fire Stations

MADERA, Calif. ---The Madera County Board of Supervisors voted Dec. 7 to restore funding for the Ahwahnee and Raymond fire stations under the Cal Fire Amador contract. "Resources were identified during the mid-year budget review as presented by County Administrative Officer Eric Fleming. Supervisor Frank Bigelow, District 1 said. Bigelow was excited by the unanimous vote to restore the Amador Plan immediately. Bigelow said he opposed cutting these stations from the beginning and has worked relentlessly to identify funds to restore the much needed safety value these stations present to the communities they serve. "This wasn't a single person effort," Bigelow said, "it took a lot of support and I thank my fellow Board members and our CAO for their efforts and support." More >> |

"We are experiencing the best conditions I have seen in the last 19 years, and we are excited about the opportunity to open early with great snow," said Colin Baldock, General Manager of Recreation for Delaware North Companies Parks & Resorts at Yosemite, the authorized concessionaire. "New snow in addition to the hard work of our mountain operations and grooming teams allows us to open earlier than planned."
