Budgeting For 2011 And 2012
Many of you are like me and you have begun working on next
year's budget. Others of you will begin working on your 2011/12 budgets for
fiscal year's that end in June. I either case, I would like to alert you to a
couple of important community events you may want to take into account for the
second half of next year.
1. The Oakhurst Area Chamber will be creating a
special publication next year that will come out the very beginning of 2012.

Join the Coarsegold Peddlers in the Coarsegold Historic Village (September 3 - 6). Help out in the Beer Garden! Shifts are from 10:30am - 2:30 pm and 2:30 pm -6:30 pm.

Bass Lake Home Tour
 The Bass Lake Lions Club, in conjunction with Bass Lake Realty, will host a tour of Bass Lake homes on Saturday, September 11, 2010 from 10 am to 3 pm. Several custom homes have been graciously offered for touring by their owners, including Dave and Gail Workman's home on Dogwood Creek Drive in Bass Lake Estates. Completed in December 2005 by builder Paul Contreras, the Workman home is Arts & Crafts inspired from the turn of the 20th century and from architecture found in the national parks. Read More>>

Broadband Infrastructure Project Press Release
A massive Central California broadband infrastructure project stands to benefit the Sierra Tel serving areas in the coming years. The Central Valley Next Generation Broadband Infrastructure Project (CVNGBIP) has been awarded $46.6 million in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act Funding. The project is designed and developed by the non-profit Corporation for Education Network Initiatives in California (CENIC), and the Central Valley Independent Network (CVIN).

Boys & Girls Club of Oakhurst
August has been a busy month for the Boys & Girls Club if Oakhurst. They have forged a homework partnership with Oakhurst Elementary School, they were chosen as Madera County partner for the Lowes Hero's Program as well as being one of 35 clubs nationwide to receive $5000 from Nickelodeon's Big Green Help Grant Program.

Sierra Telephone Recognizes Veterans And Emergency Services Personnel On Anniversary Of Terrorist Attacks.
Sierra Telephone, located in Oakhurst, would like to invite the public to its annual Patriot Day event on Friday September 10, 2010 at the Sierra Telephone Headquarters building - 49150 Road 426 in Oakhurst. The event, which begins at 9:00 am, is intended to recognize and show appreciation to all Veterans and Emergency Services Personnel for their dedication to our country.

We will be planting 350 trees on October 23 and are still looking for contributions. We need children activities, snacks, potato or macaroni salad, compost, dirt, tools, post hole diggers, tables, chairs, etc. Call the Chamber office today and find out how you can get involved.
