Census Fraud

Census Bureau 2010 Logo
If a U.S. Census worker knocks on your door, he/she will display a badge, a Census Bureau canvas bag and a confidentiality notice. Ask to see their identification  badge/tag before answering their questions. Additionally, Census workers will not ask to come into your home.

Census workers are currently only knocking on doors to verify address information. Do not give your social security number, credit card or banking information to anyone, even if they claim they need it for the U.S. Census. While the Census Bureau employees might ask for basic financial information, such as a salary range, they will not ask for social security, bank account or credit card numbers nor will employees solicit donations.

Census workers may contact you by telephone, mail or in person at home. However, they will not contact you by e-mail, so be on the look out for e-mail scams impersonating the Census. Do not click on any link claiming they're from the U.S. Census Bureau.

Waking Up In Wal-world: A Nightmare
Walmart World

Eeep-Eeep-Ee -

"Uh, hallow?"

"Good morning, Walter. It's 6:30am in Wal-World, time zone 3, Monday, March 8, 2075.  Current temperature is a crisp 11 degrees Wal-Cius. Have a nice day."

Walter Wallace had received the same wake-up call every morning of his life since he was eight years old. That was 2050, the year planet Earth, as it had been known for millennia, became Wal-World, wholly owned by Wal-Mart.

In the 21st century, the world economy became dominated by Wal-Mart. By 2030, the company headquarters moved from Arkansas to occupy the entire lower third of the island formerly known as Manhattan - now called New Wal-Town. From offices on Wal-Street, the company quite literally ruled the world. Read More>>>

Is CD Laddering Right For You
State Farm Logo new
With the recent volatility in the stock market, people are hesitant to put their entire nest egg into the market. Additionally, with the economy creating tight times for families, it's often necessary to make sure funds are available if and when we need them. For those investors who are either reluctant to jump head first into the market or those who may have a need for cash, the strategy of laddering Certificates of Deposit (CDs) may be appropriate.

CD laddering is the process of structuring your investment into CDs to take advantage of the higher rates afforded by longer-term time deposits, yet maintaining liquidity by arranging it so that equal portions of the invested money is available periodically. To accomplish this, you begin by buying numerous CDs with various maturities. Read More>>>
