November 2009
Holiday Greetings!
It is hard to believe that the holiday season is fast approaching. We look forward to this time of year yet the holidays often mean a more stressful schedule. The holiday season is the perfect time to strengthen your yoga practice through consistency and dedication. Maintaining your yoga practice and committing the time to your emotional and physical well-being will help with any stress that holiday travels, celebrations, and gatherings might bring about.
During the month of November we are reminded to give thanks for loved ones, friends, family, and community. Huntington Beach Hot Yoga thanks everyone in our community for making our studio such a wonderful and renowned place to learn and grow. Happy Thanksgiving and see you at the studio!

Student of the Month |
Our September Student of the Month is Dan Young! Dan, a regular at the 11:30am class, is originally from Huntington Beach & Fountain Valley!
- When did you start practicing hot yoga?
"I started practicing just about two years ago. Before yoga I didn't really have a lot of time for fitness, I had a lot of catching up to do! A relative of mine out in Arizona opened her own studio and was always telling me how great it would be for my health. I took her up on it and decided to try Huntington Beach Hot Yoga. Two years later I have lower blood pressure than before and a lot more balance in my life."
- How often do you practice?
"I try to practice 4 to 5 times a week. Getting here 5 times a week can be a stretch but I try my best."
- Why do you practice? What are the primary benefits you experience?
"Hot yoga has given me a greater quality of life. I feel healthy and balanced. When I began, I wasn't sure that I could tolerate 90 minutes with the heat and the postures...now it goes by pretty fast. I have greater stamina and flexibility than before hot yoga, I've also lost inches around my waist! My only regret is that I didn't start this earlier in my life, as it would have helped me handle work stress much better."
- How has your hot yoga practice impacted or changed your life?
"Hot yoga has challenged me to watch what I eat and maintain a healthier diet. I always feel better in class when I am eating healthier. It's funny how that happens. I have found myself eating more fruits and vegetables and much less red meat. I am more conscious of eating a healthier diet now more than ever."
- What's your favorite posture?
"Tree. For me, it provides focus, balance, and concentration. This was by far the hardest posture for me when I began. Just to get my leg up and hold it was a real effort, as well as the balancing aspect. Now it is somewhat easier but I am still a long way from advancing into toe." |
