We are
pleased to announce that the second session of the Dayton Method Teacher
Training was completed during the month of August. Seven teacher trainees
participated in this training session creating an intimate experience for
learning. Teacher trainees completed a total of 200 hours training in 4 weeks
including two hot yoga classes per day, Monday through Friday and one on
Saturday, anatomy classes, philosophy classes and countless hours of
posture clinics. Teacher trainees arrived at the studio at 8am and ended
training at 6pm. Needless to say, it was a very intensive month, and I am very
proud of the group that really put every ounce of energy into the training. It
is my top priority to offer yoga students the best possible instructors who are
not only educated in hatha yoga, but have a passion to give the gift of yoga to
others.
We are
excited to offer this type of training opportunity and to continue
to improve the quality of instruction that is provided at Huntington
Beach Hot Yoga. Huntington Beach Hot Yoga continues to grow and teacher
training is the root to its success.
Thank
you for your patience with class cancellations during the past month.
11:30am classes resume Monday, August 10 and 2:30 pm classes resume Saturday
August 15.
Congratulations
to all 7 Dayton Method Teacher Training Graduates: Megan Conlay, Saddie Eppes,
Barbara Harrington, Maddy Lewis, Maggie McGlinn, Vivian Nguyen, and Andrea
Weeks.
Welcome
to the staff and I look forward to watching you all blossom into excellent
instructors.
Namaste,
Jason

Student of the Month |

Our August Student of the Month is Ted Barsh!
- When did you start practicing hot yoga?
"February 2005, about 4 years ago. I was seeing a chiropractor and physical therapist for sports related injuries and 3 slipped disks. My physical therapist recommended hot yoga. I went for a week and after that my back felt so much better that I stopped going to physical therapy all together! When I started yoga, the first people I met were Dan and Michele Butler. Dan made a comment about my calves and it turned into a joke around the studio. They [Dan and Michele] always point out to people how big my calves are and people don't know what to say, they are in awe of how ripped my legs are."
- How often do you practice?
"3 to 4 times a week is my goal. No weekends though."
- Why do you practice? What are the primary benefits you experience?
"Yoga helps with all of my sports related injuries. I've torn both my achilles tendons and my hamstring in addition to my back injuries. Hot yoga loosens me up and helps with the pain. I try and stay consistent with hot yoga; if I'm on vacation or something for an extended period of time I feel my calves and back tightening up. Another great aspect of yoga is coming on Monday and getting rid of all the toxins built up over the weekend. I rarely come on the weekends because I'm busy enjoying them and sweat it all out on Monday."
- How has your hot yoga practice impacted or changed your life?
"When I get out of yoga I feel great. I wish I had started this 20 years ago. It relaxes me, makes me feel calmer, and de-stresses me. People in yoga best know me by my calves, my killer tan, and the nickname T.T. Boy, given to me by Joel and Dan, don't know what it stands for though-- but it's life-changing."
- What's your favorite posture?
Ted laughs, "Downdog because it stretches out my calves and hamstrings...Now we should take a picture of my calves!" |
