A diet rich in vegetables and fruits lowers blood pressure; reduces risk of heart disease, stroke, and some cancers; lowers risk of eye and digestive problems; and has a mellowing effect on blood sugar that can help keep appetite in check.
-

-
Get some every meal, every day

This month marks some exciting growth at Huntington Beach Hot Yoga. I am very proud to be offering the studio's first Teacher Training. The Training is designed for students who have a passion for practicing hot yoga, the desire to instruct others and a thirst for a deeper understanding of self. It will be a transformative experience that not only prepares practitioners to teach hot yoga, but it will also dramatically advance one's own practice, and understanding of the practice. I'm am thrilled to be able to offer this opportunity to our hot yoga community -- both to continually improve the quality of our instructors, and provide opportunities for you to deepen your personal practice.
Please note some class cancellations below, that are happening only in the month of August, due to the rigorous Teacher Training schedule. I really appreciate your patience with these class cancellations, and look forward to adding them back to the schedule for your convenience in September. Thanks for your continued support of Huntington Beach Hot Yoga, as well as this month's Teacher Training program.
Namaste,

Student of the Month |
Our August Student of the Month is Shannon Swanson!
- When did you start practicing hot yoga?
Shannon worked out regularly at LA Fitness for years. She recalled, "My friend Michele Butler introduced me to hot yoga. She couldn't stop raving about it..." Shannon tried her first hot yoga class in August 2004, and never went back to the gym again. She has since taken over 390 classes at HB Hot Yoga!
- How often do you practice?
Shannon practices hot yoga 3 days per week.
- Why do you practice? What are the primary benefits you experience?
Shannon remembers early in her hot yoga practice, having weight loss as her primary goal. However, in the 4 years she's practiced, her goals and reasons for practicing have evolved dramatically. Hot yoga has helped her focus on the importance of overall health, and accepting her body. She noted, "hot yoga helps me with stiffness, back pain, and arthritis" that used to plague her regularly. Hot yoga helps her sleep well, and de-stress.
- How has your hot yoga practice impacted or changed your life?
"Hot yoga helps my body stay pain free, and I know it will continue to ease physical pain as I get older. I no longer have ongoing back pain, and I no longer have to see a chiropractor. Hot yoga has helped me achieve an overall health that I didn't expect possible." |
