One of the first signs that spring is almost here is when pitchers and catchers report to spring training. This year they are scheduled to arrive during this week. Believe it or not we could be on your lawn with the first spring treatment as soon as 6 weeks from now! Let's hope the groundhog was wrong and we will quietly ease into an early spring this year.

As you read this newsletter we are busy preparing for the 2010 lawn care season. You will see new and improved trucks, equipment and products. Our commitment to pride and professionalism continues as we focus on agronomic training and customer service training. We've improved our technology as well by installing laptops and printers in many of our production vehicles. This technology will improve our overall efficiency and allow us to spend sufficient time on your lawn delivering outstanding service and results. We have also added a push-to-talk system in each vehicle to allow for immediate access to our Lawn Specialists. This too will help us improve our service by responding quickly to your needs and deploying a nearby Lawn Dawg professional for same day service whenever possible.

We will also be introducing our Earthcare Certification system this year. After 3 years of continuous Lawn Dawg service your lawn is eligible for Earthcare certification. Once certified your lawn will require less chemical input to maintain it at the level you've come to expect. More details to come this spring!

Finally, we will be expanding our customer rewards program to include discounts from other local businesses, tickets to sporting events, and of course our continuing Florida condo reward. JP Pest Services is already on board and will be offering exclusive discounts to Lawn Dawg customers. As your lawn begins to expose itself from the melting snow you may see patches of snow mold disease.

The best thing you can do for snow mold is a light raking over the snow mold areas to allow air flow and nutrients below the matted grass.  You should also remove any debris left behind from the fall and winter months.

On December 1, 2009 Lawn Dawg kicked off the opening of its newest Commercial Division lead by Joe Gaukstern. As Lawn Dawg's new Commercial Sales Manager, Joe will over see all aspects of the Commercial Market in New Hampshire & Massachusetts.   Welcome to the team Joe!

Are you Single, Married and/or do you have any children?Married with two daughters.
Can you tell us a little bit about yourself, what are some of your hobbies or interests?
I enjoy watching and playing baseball, football, golf and most other sports. I like movies and music (blues) I am a member of The Rotary Club of Nashua West and currently serving as it's president.
I have a NH Brokers real estate license.
 
How long have you been working for the Lawn Dawg?
This is my first season.
 
How did you come about your career in the Green Industry?
I have had a long career in commercial and industrial construction from field work to project management and estimating to running a mid sized company. While running the construction company, it became apparent that the industry and in fact the world was leaning further and further toward "green" building practices. The company embraced this and we began to develop more environmentally conscious building practices. With the slow down in the building market I decided to look outside the construction field. The lawn care industry and Lawn Dawg in particular offered me the opportunity to work with quality people, in an environmentally friendly organization with tremendous growth potential. I look forward to helping Lawn Dawg reach its potential..
 
What do you like most about working at the Lawn Dawg?
I like people and Lawn Dawg offers the ability to work hard and see the results and rewards of my work. No two days are alike and the people have been fantastic.
