Dear Friends of Dorcas House,

The holidays are approaching and the children of Dorcas House want you to know how appreciative they are for all the help you give during the year.

In this month's newsletter we're showcasing photos of artwork created by the children and shared with us during the month of October.

These beautiful works, set beside the children's pictures and own stories of how each of them feels "I AM" were a blessing to all of us who were privileged to experience them.

Buenas Tardes a Todos!

All the children are doing well. Our semester meetings at school showed good grades all around with two children slightly behind. We are giving more help to them.

This week is flu shot week, when the health services department visits Dorcas House to vaccinate us all.

The school has a big celebration for Dia del Revolucion Mexicana. Our girls are going to present Folkloric Dancing!

December will be a busy month. On the 10ththe kids have a presentation at Lazar Cardenas High School at 9am followed by a 2pm Christmas Party with visits from Santa and guests from the Consulate. Then, on the 11th, Bishop Lino from Guadalajara will visit us. The bishop will baptize some of the children and celebrate communion. He will also bless Adilen on her 15 Aņos. After all of that we will have a Posada and the Bishop will have a chance to talk to the people from the micro-credit program.

The people who sponsor the kids' shoes and clothing this time of year will also have a chance to do something fun with the children.

And last, the pavement is all ready - and looks nice and safe. We need to do some painting and will talk to the group from the micro-credit program to see if they can help us with that.

Alternative Gifts Fair

Once again, St. Paul's is hosting an Alternative Gifts Fair where you can support a variety of more than worthwhile causes and do your Christmas shopping at the same time.  As always, Dorcas House will be represented with a variety of lovely items - including the perennially popular notecards designed by the children.

The Alternative Gifts Fair is Sunday, November 20, 2011 at St. Paul's Cathedral in San Diego - or - December 04, 2011 at All Saints Pasadena.

Artists' Work and A Gala Reception

On September 24th, St. Paul's Cathedral hosted a gala exhibit of the childrens' art and writing:  "I AM".  The weather could not have been better for the reception in the Queen's Courtyard and the children's art, exhibited throughout the cathedral during October, was a blessing for everyone who was able to share in it.

Next Dorcas House Visit
Thanks

The Next Dorcas House Visit is November 19th!

Please join us on the next visit to Dorcas House in Tijuana on  Saturday, November 19th.  The children love return visitors and newcomers alike and always look forward to our visits.  We'll meet in the St. Paul's Cathedral parking lot ( 2728 Sixth Ave ) at 11:30 AM and return to San Diego by 6:00PM.  We carpool down to the border parking lot, cross the border on foot  and grab some lunch at our favorite outdoor restaurant.  After that, we take a group taxi to the foster home where we visit and play with the children.  It will be a fun day you will never forget.  Please plan to bring about $20 per person (or $40 per family) to cover the cost of transportation and insurance (no one is turned away for lack of funds).  Expect to spend another $5 to $10 per person on lunch and incidentals.  A valid passport is required.  Please contact Suzanne Warren, by Thursday November 17th by email at Suzanne Warren (my preference) or at home 619-437-8700 to let me know if you plan to attend.  If you are unfamiliar with the Dorcas House ministry, please visit Dorcas House Friends for more information.
